Jonathan Gray is highly regarded in the independent film community as an attorney, producer and advisor. Jonathan has provided counsel in connection with a multitude of documentary films including Cover Up, Ask E. Jean, All the Beauty and the Bloodshed (2023 Oscar Nominee for Best Documentary Feature); They Call Me Magic (2022 Apple TV+); American Factory (2020 Oscar Winner for Best Documentary Feature); Life, Animated (2017 Oscar Nominee for Best Documentary Feature); as well as seminal narrative films such as The Station Agent (2003 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award Winner); Black Swan (2011 Oscar Nominee for Best Motion Picture); and Precious (2010 Oscar Nominee for Best Motion Picture); providing filmmakers with counsel ranging from acquisition of rights through delivery to distributors. Since 1996, Jonathan has also produced and executive produced nearly 80 narrative and documentary films. A former adjunct professor at Columbia University School of the Arts, Jonathan is currently on the Board of Directors of the International Documentary Association.
